It’s been nearly 2 years since we set out on our mission to improve web3 security. As you may have heard, in July 2024 we were acquired by Consensys Software Inc. Since then, our team has been heads down integrating the features that our users love directly into MetaMask.

Updates to MetaMask

First, we’re happy to say that our team has merged seamlessly with the culture of Consensys and we are as motivated as ever to be working on security features that impact tens of millions of wallet users.

Almost all major features of Wallet Guard are now available within MetaMask. 🎉 This includes several new awesome features such as integration of the Wallet Guard security engine for advanced phishing protection from wallet drainers, significant improvements to human readable transactions & signatures, and plenty more being worked on. We’ve already seen significant disruptions to scammers - MetaMask’s phishing detection on malicious dapps has improved by 250% since we integrated!

In an effort to increase our focus and provide the best security to the largest number of users possible, we’ve decided to begin the process of shutting down Wallet Guard. Please see the timeline below for more details. We recommend leveraging MetaMask to get the best security in the ecosystem.

Timeline

Starting today, all of our products are entering maintenance mode. No new features will be added, and only critical bugs will be fixed. You should expect to receive a notification about the upcoming sunset in Wallet Guard products.

On March 31st, 2025 we will be sunsetting all Wallet Guard services including the:

• Wallet Guard Extension
• Wallet Guard Dashboard
• MetaMask Snap
• Discord

After March 31st, 2025, you will lose access to features such as transaction simulation, the dashboard and security scans, real-time dapp blocking, and all other Wallet Guard products/features. We will be sending out periodic reminders leading up to the sunset to remind you of the upcoming changes. Discord support will remain available until shortly after this date.

Transition Checklist

We recommend transitioning fully to MetaMask as your wallet before March 31st, 2025, to ensure continued protection. In the meantime, you may safely disable any Wallet Guard functionality within your browser if you are already an existing MetaMask user (please ensure your MetaMask is fully up-to-date before doing so).
